THE SCOPE

The layout comes first

Study the space before choosing cabinetry. A site review helps identify utility routes, structural questions, and which changes need drawings and city review.

Existing and proposed floor plans

Island placement and working clearances

Plumbing and ventilation routes

Wall changes and structural review

Discuss your layout & utility changes project

PLANNING THE WORK

What comes before
installation.

Layout changes can add drawing, engineering, and permit review time before construction. The 8–14-week whole-kitchen construction allowance is preliminary and begins after approvals and material readiness.

Bring to the site review

  • Existing and proposed floor plans
  • Photos and measurements of walls, islands, windows, and doors
  • Appliance positions, plumbing locations, and ventilation routes

What changes the estimate

Wall changes, structural design, utility routes, access, permit documents, temporary support, and the finish repairs needed after relocation.

Materials, labor, allowances, and related trade work are listed separately in the written scope. Whole-kitchen price ranges are not individual-service quotes.

Compare layouts

Review circulation, island placement, appliance access, and what each option changes in the existing room.

Resolve technical questions

Assess walls and utility routes; identify drawings, engineering, trade scope, and the city review path.

Approve before ordering

Finalize the approved footprint and connections before cabinet fabrication and construction scheduling.

CABINETS, MATERIALS & SCHEDULING

Specify the cabinets.
Then set the start.

The cabinet schedule records the manufacturer, line, construction, finish, dimensions, accessories, and supplier-confirmed delivery date.

Stock cabinetry

Check available sizes, filler requirements, finish availability, and whether every piece is in stock before demolition.

Semi-custom cabinetry

Confirm size options, finished panels, storage inserts, shop-drawing approval, and the supplier’s current production slot.

Custom cabinetry

Approve measured drawings, finish samples, appliance integration, and fabrication details before release. Delivery depends on the selected shop.

Brand and cabinet-line selection is project-specific. Lead times are confirmed in writing with the supplier rather than promised as a universal delivery window.

  1. Before construction

Measure → approve layout and selections → obtain required permits → confirm cabinet delivery.

  2. Early construction

Protect the home, demolish the agreed scope, complete rough trades, and pass required rough inspections.

  3. Installation

Install cabinetry, measure and fabricate countertops, then coordinate backsplash, appliances, and final trade work.

  4. Completion

Complete final inspections, review the punch list, and hand over agreed documentation.

Planning windows after approvals and materials: 5–7 weeks for a same-layout remodel and 8–14 weeks for structural or utility changes. Actual milestones follow the agreed scope and inspection availability.

BEFORE YOU REQUEST A VISIT

Plan this part of your kitchen.

Scope, scheduling, and permits come before the final price.

Cost

Wall changes, structural design, utility routes, access, permit documents, temporary support, and the finish repairs needed after relocation.

An individual-service estimate follows measurements and a defined scope. The full kitchen ranges do not price this work on its own.

Duration

Layout changes can add drawing, engineering, and permit review time before construction. The 8–14-week whole-kitchen construction allowance is preliminary and begins after approvals and material readiness.

Permits

Permit requirements follow the city and exact scope. Cabinet replacement can require a permit even if the layout stays. Electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and wall changes generally need local review before work begins.

Find your city’s permit guide

Can the layout stay?

Yes, subject to the existing conditions and appliance fit. A same-layout remodel can replace cabinetry and surfaces while keeping the main footprint. Wiring, plumbing, ventilation, and permits still need review. Wall removal and relocated utilities are separate scope decisions.

05 / BEFORE YOU BEGIN

A few good
questions.

Before planning your layout & utility changes project.

Can we remove a kitchen wall?

A wall must be assessed before removal. Load-bearing conditions, utilities, and the proposed opening may require structural design and permits. Review those requirements before demolition or cabinet ordering.

How is this work priced?

Pricing follows a site review and a written scope. Material selections, measurements, installation conditions, and related utility work determine the estimate; a whole-kitchen planning range is not a quote for this individual service.

Where do you offer this service?

Share your project city to confirm availability. The kitchen service area includes San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Fremont, Milpitas, Walnut Creek, Concord, San Ramon, and Danville.
